My art begins where design ends: in the space between the natural world and the people who need it most.

Benefits of Biophilic Art

cosmos-blossoms-#8.jpg

Biophilic art does more than decorate a space — it transforms it. Research consistently shows that immersion in nature-inspired imagery reduces stress and anxiety, lowers blood pressure and heart rate, and accelerates healing and recovery. It lifts mood, combats mental fatigue, and sharpens cognitive performance — enhancing both creativity and productivity in the people who live and work around it.

There is also something timeless about art rooted in the natural world; it speaks to a deep conscientiousness, a sense of responsibility to something larger than ourselves.

Above all, biophilic art strengthens our connection to nature at a moment when that connection has never mattered more.

Artist Statement

Peace.jpg

I am a biophilic artist with a degree in architecture and a background of both graphic and landscape design. My most important core value is being of service to others by sharing my artwork. Biophilic art has the power to calm, inspire and heal. This is what my artwork does.

My perception of anything creative is that it’s an expression of the subconscious and beyond. It  is a glimpse into a universe hidden from human awareness. I attempt to  explore this with the improvisational and free-form techniques I use to create my work

Photoshop is my medium and my passion. Many of the techniques I use I developed myself. I use a method analogous to the chord progression that a jazz musician uses to improvise on. I start with a photograph then proceed intuitively adding layer after layer and adjustment after adjustment until the final image is reached. The way that each layer interacts with its predecessors is much the same as the way one musical phrase leads to the next.

Technique is crucial. Beauty is paramount to me. I strive to create images that are accessible yet sophisticated. I speak to as diverse an audience as possible. I prefer spontaneity over control, the visceral over the intellectual, clarity over obfuscation, simplicity over chaos, honesty over pretense, diversity over exclusion and the spiritual over the worldly. This is what my art conveys.
